Dr. Faustus presents: Ensemble 365 & Pierrot Lunaire

May 23, 2014

We are pleased to announce our upcoming concert, in collaboration with Dan Blake and the Firehouse Space in Brooklyn. The concert will feature Ensemble 365, performing new and recent works by Inès Thiebaut, Greg Brown, Eric Nathan, and André Brégégère, as well as a performance of Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire, and a set by pianist/composer Sandra Sprecher (see complete information below). This should be an interesting event, and we hope to see you there!

Dr. Faustus presents: Ensemble 365 & Pierrot Lunaire

New York’s contemporary music scene is singularly vast in scope, perhaps impossible to cover with a single series. With this residency at The Firehouse Space, Dan Blake brings together a range of collaborations that at least begins to represent the diversity of experiences and musical styles he has witnessed while living in New York.

The fifth and final concert of this season will feature Ensemble 365 in collaboration with the commissioning series Dr. Faustus. Ensemble 365 will perform new works by Inès Thiebaut, Greg Brown, Eric Nathan, and André Brégégère. Also on the program will be a performance of Schoenberg’s masterpiece Pierrot Lunaire, song by Sara Paar and her ensemble.

We will also be joined for an opening set by composer and pianist Sandra Sprecher and pianist Adam Tendler in a premier performance of BREAK OUT, a composition by Sandra Sprecher for two pianos and electronics.

Ensemble 365: Mary Hubbell (Voice), Alice Jones (Flute), Karen Rostron (Violin/Viola), Mirna Lekic (Piano)

Pierrot Ensemble: Sara Paar (Soprano), Emily Vold (Violin/Viola), Melissa Keeling (Flute/Piccolo), Ashleé Miller (Clarinet/Bass Clarinet), Caroline Bean (Cello), Audrey Abela (Piano)
